Virginie Barré

Wavering between the familiar and the mysterious, and between image-movement and the freeze frame, Virginie Barré’s art praxis is expressed in drawings of solemn Indian chiefs, installations of strange accessorized mannequins, and sour evocations of childhood. Her works, which issue from a line of thinking involving collage and assemblage, represent snippets of a serial novel or a weird whodunit. Haunted by cinematographic memories, they appear like so many enigmas for the viewer.
